CAS annuls Mohamed Bin Hammam's lifetime ban

Bin Hammam has lifetime ban rescinded

Former president of the Asian Football Confederation Mohamed Bin Hammam has had his lifetime ban from the game rescinded by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The ex-football administrator was initially hit with the ban last year after being found guilty of bribing Caribbean officials while campaigning against Sepp Blatter in the FIFA presidency elections.

The decision to annul the ban was taken by CAS on the basis that there was not enough evidence to prove that the Qatari had committed bribery.

FIFA can begin a fresh investigation into Bin Hammam if an ethics committee can bring any new evidence to light.
