Alan Pardew won't rush Newcastle United transfers

Alan Pardew says that Newcastle United will not go on a January transfer spending spree like they did earlier this year.

Alan Pardew has insisted that Newcastle United will not rush into any transfer deals during the January window.

The Magpies recruited heavily a year ago by signing the likes of Mathieu Debuchy, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Yoan Gouffran, Massadio Haidara and Moussa Sissoko, but Pardew sees no reason to repeat a similar spending spree.

"I think we can be very calculated in this window. If you are in a good position, there is no need to rush anything," Pardew said in a press conference.

"In the corresponding window last year, we really needed to do some business and when you need to do business, I think it is a difficult window.

"When you don't need to do business, which perhaps you can argue we don't, then maybe you can look at it in a more calculated manner."

Newcastle have been linked with deals for a striker, including Bafetimbi Gomis, Dimitar Berbatov, Luuk de Jong and Konstantinos Mitroglou.
