Arthur Melo is reportedly a transfer target for Newcastle United in the upcoming January market.

Newcastle United are interested in signing Arthur Melo according to reports.

With the January transfer market fast approaching, the Magpies have been linked with a variety of players with this window marking the first time the new owners are able to invest in the team.

Melo is one of the players that the club are reportedly looking at signing, as they attempt to bolster their midfield, according to a report from El Nacional.

The 25-year-old joined Juventus last summer from Barcelona and while he played 32 times in his first campaign, so far this season he has only made six appearances.

The Magpies are in the midst of a relegation battle at the moment and they will be keen to push out of that, which is one of the reasons Eddie Howe is hoping to add depth to his squad.

Newcastle United are currently second from bottom in the Premier League as they prepare to face Leicester City this weekend.
