Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Spartak Moscow winger Quincy Promes.
The Magpies are said to have sent a representative to the Amsterdam ArenA to watch the Netherlands international as the USA beat the Dutch 4-3 in a friendly on Friday.
Promes played under Steve McClaren, who has been heavily tipped to become Newcastle head coach, during his second spell at FC Twente.
The 23-year-old reportedly turned down interest from Manchester United last summer to join Spartak instead, but it is thought that he could be prepared to leave Russia after just one season.
According to Clubcall.com, Newcastle are ready to join the race for his signature.
Promes has scored 13 goals in 28 appearances for Spartak.
