Alexander Isak latest: Agent of Liverpool’s new signing risks wrath of Newcastle fans with 22-word message live on air

Isak’s agent risks wrath of Newcastle fans with 22-word message live on air

The agent of Liverpool’s new signing Alexander Isak has taken a parting shot at the striker’s former club Newcastle United with a cryptic message.

Isak has put pen to paper on a six-year contract at Anfield after completing a British-record transfer to Premier League champions Liverpool on deadline day, believed to be worth £125m.

The 25-year-old was a fans’ favourite at St James’ Park and scored 62 goals in 109 appearances for the club, including a strike in Newcastle’s 2-1 win over Liverpool in the EFL Cup final in March to help end the club’s 70-year wait for a domestic trophy.

However, Isak’s head turned after learning of interest from Liverpool at the beginning of the summer transfer window and his relationship with the Magpies soon broke down after he requested to leave the club.

Isak released a bombshell statement in which he accused Newcastle of “broken promises” over his future and claimed that “change is in the best interests of everyone, not just myself”.

Newcastle hit back with a statement of their own, insisting that ‘no commitment had ever been made’ to let the striker leave this summer.

Isak’s agent takes swipe at Newcastle after record Liverpool transfer

Isak was eventually granted his wish, though, as Newcastle agreed a “significant” club-record sale to Liverpool after brining in Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa from Stuttgart and Brentford respectively.

Following a high-profile and drawn-out transfer saga this summer, Isak's agent Vlado Lemic has taken a swipe at Newcastle by sending some quotes to talkSPORT host Jim White for him to read out live on air.

The 22-word statement read: "It's nice when you have someone to be with, but it is even nicer when you know who you will never be with again."

Such a comment will not go down well with Newcastle supporters, but some of those may appreciate Isak’s latest post on Instagram in which he has offered a more heartfelt reflection on his time at St James’ Park.

Isak expresses gratitude to “amazing” Newcastle fans after Liverpool move

"I want to express my gratitude to my team-mates, the staff, and above all, the city of Newcastle and all the amazing supporters for the three unforgettable years we shared together," Isak’s post read.

"Together, we have written history and brought the club to the place where it truly belongs.

"It has been an honour to be part of the journey, from reaching the Champions League to winning the first trophy in over 70 years. Forever grateful. Thank you, Newcastle."

The Premier League’s most expensive player in history is now looking forward to a new chapter in his career with Liverpool, where he will wear the iconic No.9 shirt and hopes to “win everything” with Arne Slot’s side.

Isak is currently away on international duty with Sweden and is training with his teammates as he prepares to play his first competitive game of the new season against Slovenia in 2026 World Cup qualifying on Friday.
