Sammy Ameobi out for "number of months"

Newcastle United striker Sammy Ameobi is expected to be sidelined for a "number of months" following an suspected knee injury.

The England Under-21 player picked up an injury during the Magpies' 3-1 reserve-match victory over Wigan Athletic on Tuesday

A club spokesman said: "Sammy Ameobi will be sidelined for a period of time, likely to be a number of months, as a result of an injury sustained in the reserves' win over Wigan."

The 19-year-old has been edging his way through to the first team following 19 appearances for the North East side.
