Remy Cabella's father confirms Newcastle United deal

The father of Montpellier HSC midfielder Remy Cabella has confirmed that his son is nearing towards securing a move to Newcastle United this month.

The Magpies have been linked with a switch for the 23-year-old in recent weeks, with chairman of the Ligue 1 outfit Laurent Nicollin stating that he would consider selling the Frenchman for the right price.

When asked whether or not there had been developments over his son's future, Hector Cabella revealed that the Premier League club are close to capturing their man.

He told Actuafoot: "Yes, we are negotiating for Remy and yes he will join Newcastle this winter."

Cabella has struck six times in 19 appearances for the former French champions this season.
