Aitor Karanka "very pleased" with Middlesbrough win over Derby County

Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka says that he was "very pleased" to see his team beat Derby County in the Championship while he was serving a touchline ban.

Aitor Karanka has said that he is "very pleased" with Middlesbrough's 2-0 win over Derby County in the Championship this afternoon.

The Spaniard had to watch his side from the stands while serving a touchline ban, but they were able to clinch the win without him to move to the top of the Championship table.

He told Sky Sports News: "We didn't give them any chance to score and we had I don't know how many chances to score, so I am very pleased. For my players as always but also for my staff, because they deserved a day like today.

"I was not on the bench and they were all week preparing the game. It could have been difficult but I trust them 200%."

Grant Leadbitter and Patrick Bamford scored the goals for the home side, while the Rams had Ryan Shotton sent off.
