Live Commentary: Marseille 2-1 Saint-Etienne - as it happened

Marseille and Saint-Etienne met at the Stade Velodrome on Tuesday night with the chance to bounce back from their disappointing results at the weekend.

Les Phoceens were held to a goalless draw at Bastia while Les Verts threw away the lead to lose at home to Toulouse.

However, Marseille edged out Saint-Etienne in a pulsating affair to move level on points with league leaders AS Monaco.

43 minCHANCE! Saint-Etienne showing far more ambition since scoring that penalty, and Clerc puts in a great ball from the right touchline. Hamouma is there but he cannot get clean connection on the volley, and it crawls to the arms of Mandanda. That was a big chance.

42 minMollo drifts down the left of the box and should probably have a go at goal but takes too long. He then chips a wonderful cross to the far side of the box where Hamouma is waiting and hits a volley that deflects out for a corner.
