Pacos de Ferreira move up to fourth place in the Portuguese Primeira Liga after a 2-0 away win against Maritimo at the Estadio dos Barreiros.

Pacos de Ferreira have moved up to fourth in the Portuguese Primeira Liga after a 2-0 away win against Maritimo at the Estadio dos Barreiros.

It took 11 minutes for the visitors to take the lead, with 20-year-old Ghanaian Barnes Osei providing the finish to score his first goal of the season.

Maritimo's Fransergio then came close to equalising, with a powerful drive from range forcing Marafona into an awkward save.

Into the second half, and just four minutes were needed for Ferreira to double their lead as forward Diogo Jota fired in his fourth goal of the season.

The 18-year-old came close to scoring a second less than five minutes later, but the score remained at 2-0 as Jota hit the post after some clever work from Barnes.

Despite not conceding again, things went from bad to worse for the home side in stoppage time when Tiago Rodrigues was given a straight red card.

As a result, Maritimo move down to 12th on goal difference following their fourth defeat in eight league games this season.
