Paul Scholes: 'Gerard Pique couldn't cope in the Premier League'

Paul Scholes does not believe that Gerard Pique would suit the Premier League and should stay in La Liga.

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes does not believe that Gerard Pique has what it takes to play in the Premier League.

Pique has recently been linked with a move away from Camp Nou, as the defender has not been selected to play by Luis Enrique in Barcelona's last three games.

Reports suggest that the Red Devils and Chelsea are lining up bids for the Spaniard but Scholes believes Pique should stay in La Liga.

"I think Gerard would find it harder back in the Premier League," Scholes told The Independent.

"I have always thought that Spanish football, and Barcelona in particular, suits him best.

"He likes being in a side that keeps possession. He is great at home but playing away at the big teams in England is a completely different prospect for a defender."

Pique is allegedly considering his future at Barcelona over the next two weeks, making a move in January a possibility for the defender.
