Cristiano Ronaldo: 'I want to stay at Real Madrid'

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo says that he 'wants to stay' at the Bernabeu, while also revealing that he does not intend to go into coaching in the future.

Cristiano Ronaldo has reiterated that he intends to see out his Real Madrid contract as he 'loves' the club and the city.

There has been growing talk of a return to Manchester United over the past six months, having reportedly grown frustrated at a lack of support from Los Blancos chiefs during his high-profile tax fraud case last year.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is unlikely to be given a contract extension at the Bernabeu, with his current terms not due to expire until 2021, but he does not intend to find a route out of the Spanish capital in the summer.

Speaking to Chinese football app Dongqiudi, Ronaldo said: "Of course I want to stay here, I love this club. I like living here. I've lived in this city since 2009 and I love the weather and the people. It's close to Portugal and you can get there by car. Spain is a great country, I love it."

Asked about his plans once his playing days come to an end, the Portuguese added: "My plan to retire at 41 will probably be a bit more difficult to achieve, and now we live in the moment.

"Being a coach is not part of my plan, but you also know that people change their minds. For the moment I don't want to be a coach."

United boss Jose Mourinho said earlier this week that, while he is a big fan of former United favourite Ronaldo, the Red Devils do not intend to bid for the superstar forward.
