Manchester United could move for Lyon forward Moussa Dembele in January, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly considering a January move for Lyon centre-forward Moussa Dembele.

The Red Devils are planning to move for a new striker during the winter transfer window, having terminated Cristiano Ronaldo's contract at the end of November.

Man United are thought to be open to signing a short-term option next month before making a big-money addition next summer, with Napoli's Victor Osimhen believed to be the club's leading target.

According to MediaFoot, the 20-time English champions have reignited their interest in Dembele, having been linked with the Frenchman on a number of occasions over the last couple of weeks.

The report claims that Lyon are open to a January exit, with the French outfit asking for between £7m and £8.8m in terms of a transfer fee, as his contract is due to expire next summer.

The 26-year-old has again been a regular for Lyon during the 2022-23 campaign, making 12 appearances in all competitions, finding the back of the net on two occasions.

Dembele has an impressive record overall for the French outfit, meanwhile, scoring 69 goals and registering 18 assists in 156 appearances in all competitions.

The Frenchman starred for Celtic ahead of his move to France, scoring 51 goals and providing 18 assists in 94 matches for the Scottish giants.

Meanwhile, he has experience of English football with Fulham, playing 64 times for the club, although just two of those outings came in the Premier League.

Aston Villa and Galatasaray are also said to be keeping a close eye on the developments surrounding Dembele, who has allegedly already made the decision to move on next year.

Galatasaray are believed to have placed an offer of £4.4m on the table for the striker, but Lyon signalled that amount would not be enough to convince them to sell in the middle of the season.

Man United, meanwhile, also continue to be linked with PSV Eindhoven's Cody Gakpo, but it is believed that head coach Erik ten Hag wants a genuine striker next month rather than a wide player.

Following Ronaldo's exit, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are Man United's only first-team options through the middle, and the latter has had his injury problems during the 2022-23 campaign.
