Manchester United's superior spending power in the transfer market will reportedly hand them a significant advantage over AC Milan in the race to sign Boubacar Kamara.

Manchester United's superior spending power will reportedly give them a key advantage over AC Milan in the race to sign Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara.

The Red Devils are in the market for midfield reinforcements with the future of Paul Pogba still uncertain and question marks being raised over Scott McTominay, Fred and Nemanja Matic.

New interim boss Ralf Rangnick has reportedly drawn up a shortlist of possible targets in the middle of the park before he moves upstairs into a consultancy role at the end of the season.

The likes of Declan Rice, Frenkie de Jong, Aurelien Tchouameni and Jude Bellingham are all thought to be on Man United's radar, but Kamara could be the cheapest option of the lot.

Calciomercato claims that AC Milan are also interested in the 22-year-old, with Franck Kessie looking increasingly likely to leave San Siro next year.

However, the report states that Man United have much greater financial clout than Milan and will be able to outbid the Serie A outfit if both clubs go in for Kamara, handing the Red Devils a potentially decisive advantage.

The same may not be true if Newcastle United also join the race, though, with the newly-wealthy Magpies also thought to be considering an approach for the nine-time France international.

Kamara has come through the ranks at Marseille and has made 141 appearances for the first team in total, including 19 so far this season.
