Jurgen Klopp wanted Shinji Kagawa return to Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp reveals that he tried to re-sign Manchester United midfielder Shinji Kagawa this summer.

Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he attempted to re-sign Shinji Kagawa this summer.

The 24-year-old, who joined Manchester United from the German outfit last summer, suffered with injuries during his first season in England.

However, Klopp has claimed that Kagawa rejected the opportunity to return to the Champions League finalists when presented with the opportunity.

"This is not an issue for him this year, not even for us," he told Sky Sports News.

"It was clear relatively quickly, Shinji wants to prevail this year at Manchester United. I did not expect a different answer, you just have to ask even once."

Kagawa is currently with the United squad on their pre-season tour of Asia.
