Manchester United allegedly fail with a £25m offer for Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo, who has 18 months left on his contract at Camp Nou.

Manchester United have reportedly had a £25m bid for defender Ronald Araujo rejected by Barcelona.

While United will realistically prioritise strengthening in other areas of the pitch during 2022, they continue to be linked with central defenders.

Araujo, who has 18 months remaining on his contract at Camp Nou, is seemingly very much on their radar as they look to secure a deal which would be regarded as value for money.

However, according to El Nacional, Barcelona have chosen to reject an offer of £25m from the Premier League giants.

Although the Uruguay international has been a first-team regular since the managerial appointment of Xavi, the Catalan giants are looking to raise funds and free up space on their wage bill.

With other clubs such as Chelsea said to be monitoring the situation, Barcelona will hope that a bidding war takes place for a player with a growing reputation.
