Manchester United reportedly remain keen on the signing of Sporting Lisbon winger Pedro Goncalves ahead of the summer transfer window.

Manchester United are interested in signing Sporting Lisbon star Pedro Goncalves.

Formerly of the Portuguese giants, Ruben Amorim has struggled to have his desired impact on proceedings in the Premier League at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are languishing down in 16th spot in the top-flight standings, yet to reach the 40-point mark with only a single game remaining.

United's latest defeat arrived at the West London base of Chelsea on Friday night, when Marc Cucurella found the net during the second half.

Amorim's men still have a chance of lifting some silverware this season, though, facing Tottenham Hotspur in the final of the Europa League on Wednesday night.

Man United want Amorim favourite Goncalves?

According to Theatre of Red, Manchester United want to bring a Sporting Lisbon star to the Theatre of Dreams ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

The report claims that the Red Devils are interested in the signing of Goncalves, who was a star of Amorim's success-laden period with the Portuguese giants.

It is understood that Man United are monitoring the fitness of the winger after a period on the sidelines at the beginning of the calendar year.

Goncalves is allegedly interested by the project at Old Trafford and wants to join the English club ahead of the new Premier League term.

Where does Goncalves fit?

He was utilised mostly on the left for Amorim at Sporting, and you would expect a similar tactic if the two were reunited at Manchester United.

Despite playing just 14 matches in the Primeira Liga this term because of injury, Goncalves has netted five goals and provided four assists for teammates.

As a result, Goncalves would undoubtedly be a welcome addition to United's attacking ranks as they look to compete at the top of the Premier League next term.
