Former Arsenal forward Paul Merson tips Manchester United to return to winning ways in Monday's home Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

Former Arsenal forward Paul Merson has tipped Manchester United to return to winning ways in Monday's home Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

United opened their 2018-19 Premier League season with a 2-1 win over Leicester City, but suffered a 3-2 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion in their second match last weekend.

Tottenham, on the other hand, have beaten Newcastle United and Fulham in their first two fixtures of the campaign.

Merson has branded Monday's clash at Old Trafford a "huge match", and the pundit has tipped United to pick up all three points in front of their own supporters courtesy of a 2-1 success.

"Huge match. Over the last three or four years, you see Manchester United turn it on in these type of games, when the pressure is on. They've done it to Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, everyone," Merson told Sky Sports News.

"I don't know how they do it. I've seen this so many times. Jose Mourinho will tell them to go out and prove they're good enough to play for the biggest club in the world. Because that's what they are, in my opinion."

United recorded a 1-0 win over Tottenham in the corresponding Premier League match last season.
