Ajax manager Erik ten Hag plays down suggestions that he could become Manchester United's new head coach.

Ajax manager Erik ten Hag has played down suggestions that he could become Manchester United's new head coach at the end of the 2021-22 campaign.

The Dutchman is believed to be a leading candidate for the role at Old Trafford alongside Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino.

However, when asked about the Man United position, Ten Hag said that he has "no further thoughts on the future" and is only currently interested in helping Ajax enjoy a strong end to the season.

"At the moment I am only working with Ajax and have no further thoughts on the future. The focus is on this season. Right now I shouldn't be the theme. The theme is: how are we going to win games?" Ten Hag told reporters.

A recent report claimed that the former central defender is currently taking English lessons, as the speculation linking him with a move to Old Trafford continues.

Ten Hag has impressed at Ajax since taking charge of the Amsterdam giants in 2017, delivering two league titles and two KNVB Cups, while he has won 150 of his 203 matches at the helm.
