Anelka pays tribute to Anthony Martial

Former France international Nicolas Anelka has branded Manchester United striker Anthony Martial "one of the most talented young players of his generation".

Martial, 19, joined Man United for £36m on transfer deadline day in a move that attracted a host of criticism due to the size of the price tag.

The teenager has scored four goals in his first five games for the Premier League side, however, and Anelka has paid tribute to the Frenchman.

"Anthony is a very good player and I'm sure he'll do well for United. He is one of the most talented young players of his generation. He'll get better and better," Anelka told Goal.com.

Anelka, who is now the player-manager of Mumbai FC, played in the Premier League for Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Bolton Wanderers, Chelsea and West Bromwich Albion.
