Man United vs. Arsenal: Ruben Amorim delivers Benjamin Sesko, Andre Onana, Joshua Zirkzee updates ahead of Gunners showdown

Will Sesko, Onana, Zirkzee be available for Man United's clash with Arsenal?

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has said that Andre Onana and Joshua Zirkzee are both in line to return to the Red Devils squad for Sunday's Premier League clash with Arsenal.

Neither Onana nor Zirkzee have been involved in Man United's preparations for the new campaign, with the former dealing with a hamstring issue, while the latter has had a minor muscular problem.

Amorim has said that both are in line to play against Arsenal, but Noussair Mazraoui, who suffered an injury against Leeds United in the team's opening match of pre-season, remains out alongside Lisandro Martinez.

"No, Licha and Mazraoui are out, they cannot play this game. Josh [Zirkzee] and Andre [Onana] are recovering and are options. We'll see," the Man United head coach told reporters during his pre-match press conference.

Amorim also confirmed that Benjamin Sesko is in line to make his debut for the club.

Onana, Zirkzee, Sesko set to be available for Arsenal test

"I can see Ben being a striker at this club for many years. That is why we paid a lot of money. He didn't have a lot of time [training], but physically he is ready. That is a big component in our league. He's ready to play and we'll see if he starts," added the Portuguese on Friday afternoon.

Sesko completed a move to Man United last weekend, and he could lead an all-new attack for the Red Devils, with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo also in line to make their debuts for the club.

Bruno Fernandes could operate in central midfield, with Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte and Casemiro also battling to feature in that area of the field against Arsenal.

Man United are bidding to improve on last season's 15th-place finish in the Premier League, and they will be determined to open their 2025-26 campaign with a victory against their long-term rivals.

Amorim insists Man United will be "better" this season

"It's hard to know [hopes for the season]. We cannot change everything in four weeks, but we are better. We are training harder and are more prepared to cope with the demands of the game. I'm really more confident, that is clear. Step by step, we will be a better team," he added.

"We want to return to Europe. We have to be realistic with our fans. We will have to fight a lot because there are more teams with time together than us. We have to focus game by game. We want to win against Arsenal.

"I learned a lot last season. I don't need to focus on the future. That doesn't matter and I don't care. I need to live day by day. Everything that is noise to our team, I take out of the picture, so I just prepare my team against Arsenal."

Man United will not play European football this term, giving Amorim longer to prepare his team for domestic matters, and the Portuguese is under huge pressure to majorly improve the team this term.
