Manchester City's Bernardo Silva sees off competition from Georginio Wijnaldum, Paul Pogba and Joao Moutinho to be named Sports Mole's midfielder of the season.

Manchester City's Bernardo Silva has won Sports Mole's Premier League Midfielder of the Season prize in the 2018-19 Reader Awards.

Bernardo established himself as one of Pep Guardiola's most important players as City became the first team in a decade to retain the Premier League title, appearing in all but two of their top-flight matches.

The Portuguese helped fill in for the injured Kevin De Bruyne and also played further forward in a front three on numerous occasions, scoring seven goals and assisting seven more in the process.

Bernardo earned 54.4% of our readers' votes in the awards, putting him some way clear of second place Georginio Wijnaldum, the Liverpool midfielder claiming 13.6%.

Wolverhampton Wanderers's Joao Moutinho somewhat surprisingly rounds off the top three with 8% of the votes, claiming more than the likes of Fernandinho, David Silva and Paul Pogba.

Leicester City's James Maddison and Ryan Fraser of Bournemouth also made the final shortlist and garnered 4.8% and 3.2% of the votes respectively.
