David Seaman fears for Joe Hart World Cup place

Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman says that Joe Hart's place in the England squad for the World Cup is in jeopardy after being dropped by Manchester City.

David Seaman has admitted that he is worried for Joe Hart's place in the England squad ahead of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The Manchester City stopper has fallen out of favour at the Etihad this season after several questionable performances, with manager Manuel Pellegrini preferring to hand Costel Pantilimon the start in goal over the past number of weeks.

Seaman, formerly of Arsenal, City and England, believes that the slump has come at the wrong time for Hart and fears that his place on the plane is in serious jeopardy.

"My only worry now is when does he get back into Man City?" Seaman told Absolute Radio. "I would imagine he's going through a lot of frustration at the moment because, like when I was going through a bad patch the first thing I wanted to do was play another game, to try to get it out of the way and then rebuild your confidence.

"With Joe he's going to have a bit of trouble doing that because obviously he's not playing at City. It's whoever's playing the best keeps the shirt. You don't know what's going on at Man City, but with England it's good because you know Roy Hodgson's stuck with him for the qualifiers and he's produced the goods and we're now in the World Cup, so it's a difficult situation. If he doesn't play what's going to happen?

"I totally agree [that Hart should never have been dropped]. He's made some mistakes. But every one of his mistakes is going to be high profile because he's playing in big games all the time."

Hart is likely to start for the first time since being dropped by his club when England host Germany on Tuesday at Wembley.
