Man City agree deal for Benjamin Mendy?

Manchester City and AS Monaco have reportedly come to an agreement over the transfer of defender Benjamin Mendy.

After City agreed to sell Aleksandar Kolarov to Roma, Pep Guardiola was left in the position of having no recognised left-back in his first-team squad.

The manager is allegedly keen to bring in Ryan Bertrand before the start of the season, but it appears that he has moved to the brink of strengthening in the depleted area.

According to Sky Sports News, Monaco have accepted a bid in excess of £51m for the French international, who was part of a team who won Ligue 1 and reached the Champions League semi-finals last season.

Last summer, he cost Monaco just over £5m but in 34 appearances since his arrival at Stade Louis II, he has established himself as one of most highly-rated full-backs in Europe.

On Thursday night, Fernandinho and Eliaquim Mangala deputised at left-back as City lost 2-0 to Manchester United.
