Edin Dzeko: 'I'll fire Roma to many titles'

Edin Dzeko promises to be the type of talisman that Roma need as they bid to break Juventus's stranglehold on Serie A.

Striker Edin Dzeko has vowed to fire Roma to "many trophies" after completing his season-long loan move from Manchester City today.

Rudi Garcia's side finished second to Serie A champions Juventus in each of the last two seasons in Italy's top flight.

The Giallorossi netted just 54 times last term, with seven of the final top 10 outscoring them, and Dzeko promises to be the talismanic figure that they need this time around.

"I came here to win titles with Roma," he told the club's official website. "Hopefully we will win many, many trophies but first we have to work hard on the pitch and at the end, hopefully we will get where we want to be.

"I can only promise one thing and that is that I will give my best for this club in every game. I'll bring goals to this team. I think that's what every team needs and that's what I do the best.

"I will try to do my job in the future here and hopefully score a lot of goals for AS Roma."

Roma begin their campaign with a trip to Hellas Verona on August 23.
