Joleon Lescott eager to win silverware in final season

Joleon Lescott reveals his urge to achieve success in multiple competitions before he leaves Manchester City in the summer.

Joleon Lescott has insisted that he will do everything possible to make sure that he wins a piece of silverware in his final season as a Manchester City player.

The England defender is expected to leave the Etihad Stadium in the summer after being told he will not be handed a new deal, and the Capital One Cup final against Sunderland on Sunday represents the first opportunity for the club to win a major trophy in the current campaign.

"I've known for a while that the club were not going to renew my contract, so it's not changed my attitude one bit," Lescott told reporters.

"We are going to be at Wembley for the Capital One Cup final and it's going to be a great occasion and I want to be part of it.

"That was something I thought about in staying and what we could achieve. If I can leave having won two league titles and a domestic treble this season, that would be perfect."

Lescott has tasted success in the Premier League and the FA Cup since joining the club in 2009.
