Manchester City confirm David Silva absence

Midfielder David Silva will miss the majority of Manchester City's fixtures in November with a knee injury, the club confirms.

Manchester City have confirmed that David Silva will miss the next "three to four weeks" with a knee injury.

Silva suffered the problem in the early stages of City's 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United in the League Cup on Wednesday evening, immediately putting his participation in Sunday's Manchester derby under threat.

Reports emerged on Thursday that the Spaniard will be missing until after the international break, and manager Manuel Pellegrini confirmed on Friday that he would be without the 28-year-old for most of November.

Silva has scored twice in 14 appearances for City in all competitions this season.
