Milner: 'FA Cup win would mark successful season'

James Milner says that Manchester City could call their season a success should they lift the FA Cup.

Manchester City midfielder James Milner has insisted that the club can still enjoy a successful season but only if they win the FA Cup.

The Premier League champions look unlikely to retain their crown as they are currently trailing league leaders Manchester United by 12 points after a 2-1 victory at Old Trafford on Monday.

However, Milner believes that the Citizens could label their campaign as a good one should they lift the FA Cup.

"If we do that, it's not a bad season at all. Obviously we wanted to retain the title - it looks unlikely now," Milner told The Sun.

"But winning trophies is a habit and we've managed to do that in the last couple of years. We need to keep doing that, keep that momentum.

"The FA Cup is a great trophy, you dream of winning it. If we can do it, then it's not bad."

City face Chelsea in the semi-finals of the competition on Sunday.
