Sergio Sanchez quiet over Malaga extension

Experienced defender Sergio Sanchez refuses to reveal whether he will sign a contract extension with Malaga.

Experienced defender Sergio Sanchez has refused to disclose whether he will sign a new long-term contract with Malaga.

The 29-year-old joined Malaga from Sevilla in 2011 and is closing on 100 league appearances for the Spanish outfit.

However, as it stands, the full-back will depart La Rosaleda at the end of the season when his current deal comes to an end.

"I'm maintaining my silence and working hard as I'm very happy here. I'm dedicated to playing football and getting Malaga as high up the table as possible. Hopefully we can reach an agreement soon," he told reporters.

"Nobody can doubt my commitment to this team and I'm not going to go and talk to other clubs.

"I've been given the chance here to feel like a footballer and I think it's right that nothing distracts me from that. The main thing is the team. Negotiations are carried out in the offices and anyone can give their opinion, although it doesn't affect me."

Sanchez has also previously played for Espanyol.
