Jean-Michel Aulas: 'Liverpool can't afford Alexandre Lacazette'

Lyon rule out Liverpool, Lacazette deal

Liverpool have no chance of signing Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette this summer, according to the French club's president Jean-Michel Aulas.

Reports in France have suggested that Lacazette is Liverpool's top transfer target this summer, but Aulas has insisted that they can't afford the 24-year-old.

He wrote on Twitter: "The latest rumours are trash. Liverpool have never called Lyon about Lacazette and without playing in the Champions League they have neither the money nor being able to interest him."

Lacazette finished the season as the top scorer in Ligue 1 with 27 goals.
