Christian Gourcuff says that Lorient want to win the Coupe de France this season following their progress to the semi-finals of the competition.

Lorient coach Christian Gourcuff has said that his side are determined to win the Coupe de France this season.

Les Merlus defeated their Ligue 1 rivals Saint-Etienne 2-1 away from home in the quarter-finals of the competition on Tuesday.

"I am satisfied with our qualification for the semi-finals, and also with the way we played in the first half," he told reporters. "Tactically, we were able to do exactly what we had planned. We created a lot of space.

"There were some interesting passages of play in the game, especially considering the fact that the team we put out there was somewhat experimental. Winning the Coupe de France is now our goal for the end of this season."

Lorient are currently eighth in Ligue 1 with 47 points from 32 matches.
