Rodgers: 'I've no issue with Sterling'

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that his relationship with Raheem Sterling has not been damaged.

Manchester City have reportedly agreed a £49m fee with the Merseysiders for the England international.

Sterling has been heavily linked with a move away from Anfield after he refused to sign a new £100,000-a-week contract.

"The situation is very simple," talkSPORT quotes Rodgers as saying. "The club has agreed a deal with another club for Raheem subject to a medical that'll go through.

"Raheem and I have always remained very strong in our relationship and that remained the case when we left. There is no issue there. I spoke to Raheem at length yesterday, so there's no issue.

"The two clubs have agreed a deal, and he will move on. But at this moment in time the interest is with the players that are here."

Sterling has scored 23 goals in 129 appearances for Liverpool.
