Liverpool transfer news: Reds 'set sights' on 20-year-old Premier League attacker ahead of January window

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Bournemouth winger Rayan ahead of the January transfer window.

Andoni Iraola's Reds have made an unbeaten start to the Premier League campaign and will look to record their second top-flight victory of 2026-27 when they host Fulham at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.

With the future of Virgil van Dijk up in the air at the moment, Liverpool are also scouring the market for potential centre-back arrivals in 2027, with a particular Bundesliga youngster catching the eye.

Iraola is aiming to bring the Merseysiders back into Premier League title contention once again after a difficult campaign under Arne Slot in 2025-26, in which the Reds placed fifth in the league standings.

The loss of club legend Mohamed Salah was a huge talking point ahead of this campaign, however, Liverpool replaced the Egyptian king with a French prince in the form of Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain.

Liverpool eyeing up Rayan move?

According to Football Insider, Liverpool are eyeing up a switch for a youngster who has made a major impact on the Premier League scene in a short space of time, showcasing his massive potential.

The report claims that the 2024-25 English champions are keeping tabs on the progress and development of Bournemouth winger Rayan, with the 20-year-old impressing during his first year in England.

It is understood that the Brazilian's expensive release clause could deter possible suitors, however, there is a clear link between the promising attacker and current Liverpool head coach Iraola.

Rayan hit the ground running in the Premier League under the tutelage of the Spaniard during the second half of last season, scoring five goals and providing two assists across 15 top-flight contests.

Despite the recent arrival of world-class winger Barcola from the Champions League holders, there is a feeling that Liverpool need to recruit a top right winger to bolster options in attacking areas.

Liverpool's attacking potential

Whilst Liverpool appear short on the right wing following the failure to truly replace the departed Salah, head coach Iraola still has an embarrassment of riches to pick from in forward areas.

Riches is the key word - because of the Reds have spent an ungodly amount of money over the past two years bringing Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak and recently Barcola to the Anfield turf.

That being said, it is long-serving star Cody Gakpo who has impressed the most so far this season for Liverpool, despite the Netherlands international being close to transferring to Manchester City over the summer.
