Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has suggested that Marc Guehi will be sold in the latter stages of the summer transfer window unless he decides to pen a new contract at Selhurst Park.
The England international's deal with the Eagles is due to expire in June 2026, and there has been a host of speculation surrounding his future during the current market.
Liverpool lead the interest in Guehi, but the Reds have thus far found it difficult to come to an agreement with Palace over a deal, with the Merseyside giants not prepared to overpay for a defender who is out of contract next year.
Guehi has made a strong start to the 2025-26 campaign, already featuring three times, and he helped Palace keep a clean sheet in their Premier League opener with Chelsea on Sunday.
The 25-year-old also played the full 90 minutes of the Community Shield against Liverpool, which Palace won on penalties, in addition to the Conference League qualifying round first leg against Fredrikstad on Thursday night, with the Premier League side running out 1-0 winners in the European affair.
Parish hints at late summer exit for Guehi
Parish has suggested that Guehi will have to sign a new contract if he is to remain at Selhurst Park.
"If Marc Guehi wants to sign a contract, he can stay," Parish told reporters. "It's a difficult situation, everyone has to sell players to comply with the rules. That's a situation that we will have to look at in the next days."
However, in his press conference on Thursday, Palace head coach Oliver Glasner told reporters: "We are very, very late to find replacements. I think we could have behaved much better than we did. It's not the best way to start the season. I think we are below the edge.
"If Marc [Guehi] leaves maybe I will try my boots because I was a centre-back. We have to act. It's Crystal Palace's future and we need to add numbers."
Will Guehi leave Palace before the transfer window closes?
Palace are believed to be willing to sell Guehi for a fee between £40m and £50m this summer, but Liverpool have thus far not signalled that they are prepared to pay that amount for the centre-back.
Guehi is an exceptional Premier League centre-back, so Palace have every right to hold out for a healthy amount, but Liverpool will believe that the price will drop before the end of the market.
Parish's words suggest that a sale for the defender before the end of the market is the most likely outcome.
