How Aston Villa could line up against Liverpool

How Aston Villa could line up against Liverpool

Aston Villa will still be without talismanic captain Jack Grealish for Saturday's Premier League trip to face Liverpool at Anfield.

Grealish, who scored twice in the reverse fixture as Villa ran riot with an unforgettable 7-2 win in October, has missed the last seven games with a shin injury.

The England international suffered a setback in his recovery ahead of last weekend's win over Fulham and now looks set to be sidelined until May, and his absence is likely to open the door for Trezeguet to start on the left side of the attack.

Trezeguet came off the bench to inspire Villa's late comeback against Fulham last weekend, scoring twice in quick succession as Dean Smith's side came from behind to win 3-1.

The Egyptian had failed to scored with his previous 32 shots before opening the scoring, but has now netted with two of his last three attempts in the Premier League.

Ollie Watkins, who helped himself to a hat-trick in the last league meeting between the two sides, should lead the line again, but Ross Barkley will be pushing for a recall behind him.

Should the former Everton man be brought back in then John McGinn could drop into a deeper position in midfield, with Bertrand Traore making up the top four.

Aside from Grealish, Wesley is Villa's only other injury concern as they look to pull off a league double over Liverpool for the first time since the inaugural Premier League season in 1992-93.

Aston Villa possible starting lineup: Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Mings, Targett; Luiz, McGinn; Traore, Barkley, Trezeguet; Watkins
