Kolo Toure: 'Liverpool need a trophy this season'

Liverpool defender Kolo Toure believes that the club "need" a trophy this season.

Liverpool defender Kolo Toure believes that the club deserve to win a trophy this season.

The Merseyside outfit have just one opportunity to clinch silverware this season as they are already out of the Europa League and are highly unlikely to challenge for the Premier League title.

The FA Cup remains Liverpool's only chance of winning their first trophy under manager Brendan Rodgers, but they will have to get past Blackburn Rovers on Sunday in order to reach the semi-finals.

Toure, who has been in and out of the team this season, has already tasted cup final victory with the Ivory Coast in the Africa Cup of Nations this season, but he wants to end the campaign with silverware at Liverpool.

"It would mean a lot to finish with another trophy - for me it would be massive," Toure told the club's official website. "That's what I'm trying to do.

"This club needs a trophy. This club is a great club. People who work here - I think this club deserves something. I hope that will be this season."

In the league, Liverpool are currently two points behind fourth-placed Manchester United.
