James McArthur out to spoil Steven Gerrard's farewell party

James McArthur reveals that he and his Crystal Palace teammates are out to spoil Steven Gerrard's farewell party at Anfield on Saturday evening.

James McArthur has revealed that he and his Crystal Palace teammates are out to spoil Steven Gerrard's farewell party at Anfield on Saturday evening.

Gerrard will play his last home game for Liverpool this weekend, before making his way to Los Angeles Galaxy once the season has finished.

However, McArthur will not be thrown by the occasion and insists that he and his teammates will be out to "spoil the party" with an away victory.

"It's just another game for us," McArthur told Sky Sports News.

"We'll go in there to try and win the match. We've played well in the last two games – we want to emulate that and try to get the three points this time.

"Obviously it's a great occasion for him. He's been an ambassador for football – he's a legend at Liverpool. It's great for him but hopefully we'll spoil the party."

Gerrard will make his move to the MLS in July, beginning his 18-month contract with LA Galaxy.
