Liverpool's first-team doctor Zaf Iqbal has reportedly left the Premier League club after spending four-and-a-half years on Merseyside.
Dr Iqbal, who sat on the bench on matchdays, oversaw all the medical needs of the players and was responsible for carrying out tests on new signings at Melwood.
According to the Liverpool Echo, the club parted company with the doctor on Wednesday, yet the reasons behind his departure remain unknown.
Reports have claimed that Liverpool academy doctor Andy Massey has taken on Dr Iqbal's role for the time being until a permanent appointment is made.
Dr Iqbal, who is a Liverpool fan, joined the club's medical team in the summer of 2010.
