Stewart Downing urges Liverpool to snatch run of wins

Liverpool winger Stewart Downing believes that the Reds can finish the season strongly following yesterday's victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool winger Stewart Downing is confident that he and his teammates can push on to finish the season strongly.

The Reds, who have nine games left to play, are currently sixth in the Premier League table, seven points away from a Champions League spot, following their 3-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur yesterday.

"We want to go into the last nine games and win as many as possible," Downing told the club's official website. "That's the target we set. It was a great win for us and will give us a lot of confidence going into the next games.

"We're certainly good enough as a team, we've proved that and that is a big victory, beating one of our rivals, who are third in the league. We've got a hell of a chance. We'll just finish the season well and then next season, with a few additions, we can kick on."

The Reds take on Southampton on Saturday.
