Liverpool's Stewart Downing has insisted that he is happy to use his versatility to his advantage to try to break into Brendan Rodgers's first-team lineup.
The 28-year-old scored the only goal in Liverpool's 1-0 win against FC Gomel on Thursday, and he has revealed he is prepared to play in different positions to secure a first-team place.
Downing told the club's official website: "As long as I'm in the team, I'm not fussed where I play.
"That's the main thing. The competition for places is hot here and wherever the manager sees me, I'm happy to play there."
Downing signed for Liverpool for £20m in 2011 from Aston Villa.
