Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho sidelined "for a few weeks"

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers reveals that Mamadou Sakho is likely to be out of action "for a few weeks" through injury.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Mamadou Sakho could be sidelined "for a few weeks" through injury.

The defender has not travelled with the Reds to Switzerland for Wednesday's clash with Basel in the Champions League.

"He's picked up a slight strain which might have him out for a few weeks," Rodgers told reporters during a press conference on Tuesday.

Sakho recently apologised to Liverpool's fans after he failed to stay at Anfield and support the team for Saturday's Merseyside derby against Everton.
