Strootman: 'Salah won't answer his phone'

Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman has said that he has failed in attempts to speak with Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah ahead of the Champions League semi-finals between the two clubs.

Last summer, Salah left the Stadio Olimpico to make the switch to Anfield, and the Egyptian international has gone on to score 40 goals in his first campaign on Merseyside.

Strootman has acknowledged that Salah is Liverpool's "most dangerous player" and admits that he has attempted to engage in conversation with his former teammate ahead of the first leg of the tie on Tuesday night.

The 28-year-old told La Repubblica: "Salah is definitely the most dangerous player right now and we won't be friends on the pitch.

"I've tried to call him lately but he doesn't pick up the phone. He must have changed his number like six times. I will write to him after the semi-final."

During his two-year spell with Roma, Salah scored 34 goals in 81 appearances in all competitions.
