Liverpool paired with Roma in UCL semis

Five-time European champions Liverpool have been drawn against Roma in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

The Reds avoided back-to-back winners Real Madrid, who will instead take on fellow heavyweights Bayern Munich for a place in the final.

Liverpool cruised to a 5-1 aggregate victory over domestic rivals Manchester City in the previous round, while Roma stunned Barcelona with a 3-0 win in the second leg.

Roma's reward for producing one of the competition's greatest ever comebacks is a two-legged tie against fellow outsiders Liverpool, with the first leg to be held at Anfield on either April 24 or 25, before returning to the Italian capital a week later.

Madrid, winners in three of the last four seasons, will continue their quest for European dominance by hosting 2001 and 2013 winners Bayern in the second leg.

The final will be held at the NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium in Kiev on May 26.
