Levante edge past Almeria

Levante do just enough to secure a 1-0 win against Almeria in La Liga.

Levante have secured a slender 1-0 win against Almeria in La Liga this evening.

Almeria had a great chance to take the lead with just five minutes played, but Jonathan Zongo headed over when well placed.

The hosts came back at their opponents, however, and David Barral fired a shot inches over the bar.

Levante continued to attack, with Papakouli Diop and Barral missing decent chances just before the break.

Both sides struggled in the early stages of the second half, but Aleix Vidal almost gave the visitors the lead when he weaved through the defence and smacked a shot wide of the post.

However, Barral made them pay for their wastefulness just moments later. He found space inside the box and directed a low drive into the bottom corner.

Zongo hit the post as Almeria pushed for the equaliser and Keilor Navas kept out Oscar Diaz, but Levante held on for the win.
