Leicester City goalkeeper Daniel Iversen is reportedly wanted by Preston North End on a permanent deal during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Leicester City goalkeeper Daniel Iversen has reportedly attracted interest from Championship side Preston North End.

The shot-stopping Dane has fallen down the pecking order in the East Midlands since the arrival of Ruud van Nistelrooy, replacing former head coach Steve Cooper.

Iversen is now facing first-team obscurity for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign, having been left out of Leicester's squad for the FA Cup defeat to Manchester United last week.

The 27-year-old's most recent competitive appearances arrived in the colours of Stoke City, with the goalkeeper enjoying three straight clean sheets at the second-tier club in May.

Graduating through Leicester's academy following a switch from Danish club Esbjerg in 2016, Iversen has managed just 17 senior appearances for the Foxes.

Leicester outsider Iversen wanted by Preston?

According to Football League World, Iversen's nine-year stay at Leicester could be coming to a lacklustre end at the conclusion of the campaign.

The report claims that Championship outfit Preston - currently managed by Paul Heckingbottom - want to bring the Dane to Lancashire during the summer transfer window.

After a successful 18-month loan at Deepdale across 2021 and 2022, Iversen is wanted by Preston on a permanent deal ahead of the 2025-26 term.

The Lilywhites are supposedly targeting reinforcements for their goalkeeping union, with current first-choice Freddie Woodman approaching the end of his contract.

Iversen was a key force for Alex Neil's Preston a few years ago, earning the club's Player of the Season award during the 2021-22 campaign.

Who are Leicester's goalkeeping options?

Ever since coming through the door at the beginning of the Championship-winning campaign of 2023-24, Mads Hermansen has been the undisputed option for Leicester in between the sticks.

The Scandinavian recently endured a few weeks on the sidelines, during which time both Danny Ward and Jakub Stolarczyk were trusted in net.

Ward endured a wretched time in goal during the 3-0 home defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers and quickly lost his place in the XI to Polish youngster Stolarczyk.
