Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson is "hopeful" that Esteban Cambiasso can be convinced to join his newly-promoted Premier League club.
Reports over the weekend claimed that the former Argentina international had arrived in England for talks regarding a move to the King Power Stadium.
When asked for an update by BBC Radio Leicester regarding his club's pursuit of the 34-year-old, Pearson replied: "There has been a bit more encouragement in terms of the Cambiasso situation. I'm more hopeful now than I was before the weekend."
Cambiasso was released earlier this summer by Inter Milan, whom he helped to win the Champions League back in 2010.
