Leeds United reportedly want to sign John Swift from Reading in a £7m deal, no matter what division they are competing in next season.

Reading midfielder John Swift is a transfer target for Leeds United, according to a report.

The Whites are said to already have plans in place for the summer window, despite not knowing what division they will be competing in.

Leeds, who occupy an automatic promotion place in the Championship at this late stage in the season, are believed to have their eyes on Reading ace Swift.

Football Insider claims that United are ready to test their second-tier rivals' resolve with a £7m offer, matching the initial sum handed over to Middlesbrough to sign Patrick Bamford last August.

Marcelo Bielsa will push ahead with plans to sign Swift no matter what division Leeds are competing in next season, the report suggests, as the Argentinian believes that the 23-year-old can do a job in the Premier League and Championship.

Swift has played a direct part in 21 league goals since joining Reading from Brentford in 2016.
