Championship outfit Bristol City have reportedly opened talks to sign Leeds United left-back Barry Douglas, who will become a free agent at the end of this month.
The Whites announced that the 31-year-old would not be offered a new contract this summer after he spent last season on loan at Blackburn Rovers.
During his temporary spell with Blackburn, Douglas produced two assists in 30 league appearances, which took his total experience of the second tier to 110 games.
According to Football Insider there has been strong interest in the Scotland international, including clubs from Turkey and the United States, but the Robins are leading the race for his signature.
Bristol City are in the market for a senior full-back and look set to offer Douglas a contract at Ashton Gate, after the chance of a permanent move to Blackburn deteriorated as the club signed Harry Pickering in January.
Marcelo Bielsa brought Douglas to Elland Road in 2018 but he has fallen behind Stuart Dallas and Ezgjan Alioski in the pecking order, which meant that Douglas only made 15 league appearances during the 2019-20 Championship campaign for Leeds.
