Half-Time Report: Mirco Antenucci strike separates Leeds United, Rotherham United

Mirco Antenucci's 29th-minute strike gives Leeds a 1-0 half-time lead over Rotherham in the Championship's Friday night Yorkshire derby at the New York Stadium.

Mirco Antenucci's strike has given Leeds United a 1-0 lead over Rotherham United at the halfway point of their Yorkshire derby at the New York Stadium.

The Italian scored just prior to the half-hour mark to put the Whites on course for their first Championship victory under new manager Darko Milanic.

He had previously swept an Alex Mowatt cross wide on seven minutes, but later showed more clinical finishing to roll the ball into the bottom corner after Souleymane Doukara had found his smartly-timed run.

Doukara passed up a chance to double United's advantage on 44 minutes when he twice scuffed shots from inside of 10 yards, after Antenucci had driven forward and seen a shot deflected into his partner's path.

Hosting Rotherham also pushed hard for a goal before the break, but Ryan Hall's powerful free kick was high, while Matt Derbyshire and Lee Frecklington's tame efforts were easy pickings for Marco Silvestri.

The Leeds goalkeeper was more seriously tested by Alex Revell on 39 minutes, having to dive full length to his right to keep out a header from the Millers target man after Ben Pringle's cross.
