Gary Locke named Kilmarnock interim manager as Allan Johnson steps down

Locke replaces Johnston at Kilmarnock

Kilmarnock have announced that Gary Locke has taken on the manager's job on an interim basis following Allan Johnston's resignation.

Johnston revealed yesterday that he intended to leave the Scottish Premiership side at the end of the season, but his early departure has now been confirmed.

A statement via Kilmarnock's official website read: "Unfortunately, a number of injuries to key players and a series of poor results followed and although the club sits in eighth place in the Premiership, Allan decided to announce his decision to leave the club to the media on Thursday.

"Allan will stand down as manager with immediate effect and the Board has therefore appointed assistant manager Gary Locke as interim manager pending a permanent appointment."

Alan Robertson will act as assistant coach during this time.
